Umicore designated as one of "World's Most Ethical Companies"
Umicore is included for the second time in a row in the top 10 of the world’s most sustainable companies, according to the ranking published today by Corporate Knights, an independent magazine focused on promoting sustainable development. The Global 100 Most Sustainable Companies ranking is based on key performance indicators such as capacity to innovate, diversity and productivity related to a set of environmental factors.
Umicore is the only Belgian company in the Global 100.
This recognition follows Umicore’s recent inclusion in the innovative Green Index which was launched by WWF, the Living Planet Fund Management Company and Chevreux. Umicore was praised for the significant role it plays in the metal recycling chain and the development of materials for clean energy applications.
Umicore is also a long-standing component of the FTSE4Good index and other ethical or sustainable development indices such as the ECPI Ethical EMU Index.
“The inclusion of Umicore in these rankings and indices is a recognition that our strategy and business philosophy do meaningfully address the priorities of society today. We have a strong focus on products and services that provide environmental benefits such as recycling, automotive catalysts and materials for rechargeable batteries.
This is complemented by ambitious objectives to further improve our environmental and social performance.” said Marc Grynberg, CEO Umicore.
