Students show off the Umicore Luna e-car at the European Motor Show in Brussels
From 14 until 24 January the Formula Electric Belgium team will showcase their e-car Umicore LUNA at the 94th European Motor Show in Brussels. The engineering student team is part of the Powered by Umicore programme that supports clean mobility projects driven by engineering students.
High-tech beauty
The Umicore LUNA is a fully electric car designed and built by students from the Thomas More university college and the university of Leuven. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 kms in 2.7 seconds. With the Umicore LUNA the students participated successfully in three European Formula Student (FS) competitions last summer. They obtained a fourth position for their design in the Czech Republic competition and achieved an overall 26th position on FS’s world ranking of electric vehicles.
You can meet the Formula Electric Belgium team members and admire the Umicore LUNA at the European Motor Show between 14 and 24 January at Brussels EXPO in the High Tech Hall (Hall 12).
Green innovation meets performance
The students of the Formula Electric Belgium team are currently developing – for completion in nine months’ time – the next fully electric car, again with the support of Umicore. Their focus is squarely on the development and use of innovative technologies for clean mobility. The team plans to participate in several European Formula Student competitions with an e-car that is even faster and better than the Umicore LUNA.
