Umicore on air: The radio station that connects people in Olen

On Thursday 28 January we kicked off the new year at Umicore Olen with Umicore on air, a radio show for and from our employees. A heart-warming initiative where we brought everyone closer together 'at a safe distance'

Bonding between employees

Site manager Geert Defieuw: "The corona pandemic asks a lot of us and our employees, both at work and at home. We miss the chats in the coffee corner, a spontaneous greeting on the site or eating together in the company restaurant. With the radio show, we are giving an extra boost to the solidarity between our employees. An initiative that was clearly appreciated. There were over 400 songs requested, and together we collected 800 euros for each of our six charities."

Vincent Braet (process engineer): "In these difficult times of remote work and virtual calls, it is almost impossible to create a sense of belonging. But at Umicore Olen, we did it today. Thanks for that!"

Vicky Liekens (supervisor): "After a dark corona year, it's great to feel the connection between colleagues. For me and many of my colleagues, this radio show was a blast! Music really connects people."
