Reducing NOx shipping emissions  

With over 9000 large ships traveling the world, the air pollution caused by them is a major global concern. Air pollution from ships contributes to the overall air quality problems encountered by people worldwide and also affects the natural environment.  
One of the main pollutants from the ship’s emission are Nitrogen Oxides (NOx). NOx is a byproduct, created by combustion of heavy fuel oil in the engine. The exhaust gases are emitted into the environment in the form of smoke.  

To curb air pollution from ships, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has mandated that shipping emissions be reduced by 50% by 2050. 

Clean air is our business

Today only a minority of new marine engines are equipped with air pollution control systems but this picture will soon change dramatically. As of 2021 many more new engines will be equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems to reduce NOx emissions.
