Marc Grynberg on Umicore's contribution to the circular economy
Metals have facilitated humankind’s development – from the Iron Age through to today’s hi-tech world. Precious and specialty metals and materials such as platinum, cobalt or germanium also enable the technologies that are helping solve some of the world's most pressing environmental challenges such as the need for cleaner air or reducing carbon emissions. As the world’s population continues to grow and the lifestyle expectations of billions of people in emerging economies increase, the availability of these essential metals is coming under greater pressure. One solution is to develop a 'circular economy' which optimizes material flows and limits waste and pollution.
Umicore CEO Marc Grynberg talked to the Wall Street Journal's The Business Debate to explain how Umicore's technology and business model are at the heart of this circular economy.
