EIB grants € 125 million loan to support Umicore’s European rechargeable battery materials activities
Umicore has concluded a € 125 million loan agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB). The proceeds of the loan, which has a maturity of eight years, will finance part of Umicore’s investment in the cathode materials plant in Nysa, Poland. Once completed, this greenfield plant will supply the European operations of Umicore’s global battery cell and automotive customers.
The transition to cleaner mobility is a priority in the European Union’s efforts to drastically reduce CO2 emissions and Umicore is well positioned to support this transition. Through its integrated European battery materials supply chain, Umicore will significantly contribute to the European Union’s plans to create a competitive and sustainable battery ecosystem in Europe. Umicore is proud to have obtained the support of the EIB for this strategic project.

Umicore a conclu un accord de prêt de € 125 millions avec la Banque Européenne d’Investissement (BEI). Le produit du prêt, qui a une échéance de huit ans, financera une partie de l’investissement d’Umicore dans l’usine de matériaux pour cathodes à Nysa en Pologne. Quand la construction sera terminée, cette toute nouvelle usine desservira les opérations européennes des clients d’Umicore présents dans le secteur des batteries et de l’automobile au niveau mondial.
La transition vers une mobilité plus propre est prioritaire dans les efforts de l’Union Européenne pour réduire drastiquement les émissions de CO2, et Umicore est en bonne position pour soutenir cette transition. Grâce à sa chaîne d’approvisionnement européenne intégrée en matériaux pour batteries, Umicore contribuera de manière significative aux projets de l’Union Européenne visant à créer un écosystème durable et concurrentiel pour les batteries en Europe. Umicore est fière d’avoir pu obtenir le soutien de la BEI pour ce projet stratégique.

Umicore sloot een lening af van € 125 miljoen met de Europese Investeringsbank (EIB). Deze lening, die een looptijd van acht jaar heeft, zal een deel van Umicore’s investering in de fabriek voor kathodematerialen in Nysa, Polen financieren. Van zodra voltooid, zal deze nieuwe fabriek instaan voor de bevoorrading van de Europese activiteiten van Umicore’s wereldwijde klanten in de batterij- en automobielsector.
De overgang naar schonere mobiliteit is een prioriteit in de inspanningen van de Europese Unie om de CO2-uitstoot drastisch te verminderen en Umicore bevindt zich in de juiste positie om deze transitie te ondersteunen. Met haar geïntegreerde Europese bevoorradingsketen voor batterijmaterialen zal Umicore aanzienlijk bijdragen aan de plannen van de Europese Unie om een concurrentieel en duurzaam ecosysteem voor batterijen in Europa te creëren. Umicore is trots de steun van de EIB voor dit strategisch project te ontvangen.
