Umicore has formally lodged its appeal against the decision and fine pronounced by the French Competition Authority in June 2016 relating to the sales of zinc cladding materials and rainwater systems.
The appeal has been submitted to the Court of Appeal in Paris and contests the alleged abuse of a dominant market position along with a number of important procedural and factual errors in the Authority’s findings.
In addition to this appeal, Umicore has also made a request to France’s supreme administrative court – the Council of State – to have the entire case annulled. Umicore firmly believes that the French Competition Authority committed procedural breaches which prevented Umicore from receiving fair treatment.
