Umicore today hosted a visit of European Commission First Vice President Frans Timmermans to its precious metals refining and recycling operations in Hoboken, Belgium. First Vice-President Timmermans’ visit took place in the context of the Commission’s ongoing work to develop a coherent and more ambitious “circular economy” package. Such an approach would entail boosting resource efficiency, including recycling, and preventing the loss of valuable materials, creating jobs and economic growth, moving towards zero-waste and reducing greenhouse emissions and environmental impacts.
Luc Gellens, Senior Vice President of Umicore Precious Metals Refining, welcomed the visit and said: “our operations here in Hoboken are a good example of how advanced recycling technologies can contribute towards environmental progress, economic growth and job creation.”
