Can you tell me about your job at Umicore?
As an Associate Scientist on Environmental Technologies at Corporate Research and Development (CRD), I oversee the development and optimization of applications that align with Umicore's ambitions of striving to be a sustainability champion. My primary focus is to ensure that all discharged water meets environmental standards, minimize water consumption, and follow up on initiatives where we can recover metals for reuse. Nevertheless,our responsibilities in the environmental lab include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, controlling dust emissions containing heavy metals, and managing wastewater treatment across Umicore's sites.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
What excites me most about my role is the opportunity to tackle pressing environmental challenges through innovative solutions. Our team works on the development of cutting-edge technologies for carbon capture and storage and the implementation of efficient metal recovery processes, so we can learn and get inspiration from each other on different topics Every project I undertake contributes to Umicore's strong-rooted foundation as an industry leader in sustainability. I find fulfillment in knowing that my work has a tangible impact on reducing environmental harm and promoting resource efficiency.
