What you will be doing 

The Technology Manager drives technology leadership in EOM’s High Purity Chemicals department towards a state of the art operational environment and to enable sustainable business growth in line with the multi-year vision of EOM. She or he manages the screening of new/existing (process) technologies and develops these from feasibility stage to full industrialization.

Detailed responsibilities:

  • Actively support and contribute to HPC Operations through the management of CAPEX projects and review of process risk analysis in production.
  • Act as technical expert in continuous production projects for HPC Operations and deploy the extensive technical expertise towards the shopfloor.
  • Study and analyze required technologies, processes and product innovations which can solve a need coming from operations, global customers and suppliers.
  • Meet the business growth objectives through the successful steering of technology projects from the beginning until the end through well-structured project management within the agreed time, scope and budget and in line with EOM’s environment health and safety objectives.
  • Build a knowledge network beyond the borders of EOM (within Umicore and externally with similar companies, research partners, customers, suppliers, …) to grow technology leadership and deploy the extensive technical expertise with regards to (Germanium) recycling and refining competencies.

 

Who we are looking for 

An enthusiastic colleague, with:

  • Master degree in metallurgy, engineering, chemistry or related field.
  • At least 5 years of working experience in engineering, production or R&D.
  • Strong Project Management skills.
  • Experience in setting up technology roadmaps.
  • Experience in challenging research data and pushing for further information to understand the bigger picture.
  • Experience in process safety standards as to ensure full compliance.
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams,…).
  • Leading of cross functional project teams with clear direction.
  • Technical-commercial skills to discuss with customers and suppliers on technology, products and applications.
  • Good presentation skills and confidence presenting to (senior) management
  • Fluent in writing and speaking in English and Dutch
