Describe your role at Umicore?
I am a shift manager at Umicore in Kokkola. My job consists of monitoring process statuses and the condition of equipment. I create work orders for maintenance and work permits for contractors. I am also a supervisor of the extraction-reduction team.
What do you enjoy about your job?
I like that my job offers me a lot of variety on a day-to-day basis. Another thing I enjoy is the atmosphere between co-workers.
Do you like working for Umicore?
Yes, I like to work for Umicore. Since I started working here everything has gone as I expected it to go.
Why did you want to join Umicore?
Umicore was interesting for me because I got the opportunity to start working in a department that not only involves the processes of raw materials but also covers the production of products that go for sale. This offered me a great amount of variation and the chance to learn new things.
What are your expectations when you go to work in the morning?
I expect to work in the same good atmosphere that has filled the workplace since the day I got here.
What has been your highlight so far while working at Umicore?
My highlight was the day I became one of the five new shift supervisors of the new extraction-reduction department.
Your advice to newcomers?
Nobody already knows everything at the start so don’t be afraid to ask for tips from more experienced colleagues.
