Can you describe your role at Umicore?
I work as a supervisor in the cathode materials plant in Poland. It is a big challenge because it is a greenfield project. We prepare the production department to meet the requirements of the automotive industry. We recruit and train operators so that they have the appropriate competences to operate machines and devices. We also create procedures and instructions necessary for each employee to perform their tasks in an conscious and safe manner.
What do you enjoy about your job?
In my current position, I can use my long-term experience in the automotive industry. At the same time, thanks to Umicore, I am constantly growing in my role, taking training and gaining new qualifications.
What do you enjoy about working for Umicore?
Teamwork is very important to me and we are a very strong team. I feel that my ideas are taken into account and I really have an impact on the development of my workplace. In addition, while working in the automotive industry in recent years, I understood that the transition to electric cars is a must to take better care of the environment. Now, thanks to working for Umicore, I can contribute to this process.
Why did you want to join Umicore?
I was mainly attracted by the scale of the project in Nysa. And because it is a greenfield project, I can combine my automotive expertise with managing a team in a completely new and high-tech production environment.
What made Umicore attractive to you?
First of all, it is a new project that will be developed further over the coming years. So from my perspective, it is a stable job that offers great development opportunities within the organization.
What are you looking forward to when you leave for work in the morning?
The project in Nysa offers many different interesting challenges. I enjoy working with people, in my opinion we make a good team and we get along very well. Thanks to this, nothing is impossible for us, it is a very uplifting feeling.
What has been your highlight so far in your role at Umicore?
The biggest experience so far was the visit to South Korea where I could meet colleagues in Korea. They shared their experience and helped me prepare for my role in Nysa.
