What you will be doing

 

Ensure site compliance to U.S. Customs/Import/Export requirements, in coordination with the Export Compliance Officer for UOM and the Regional Trade Compliance Manager, including training of local staff and internal auditing to ensure such compliance. Designated Empowered Official, as that term is defined in 22 CFR §120.25.

Ensure development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS processes and procedures to ensure site compliance with regulatory and Umicore requirements, including applicable OSHA, EPA, and OKDEQ regulations.

Ensure successful administration and continuous improvement of environmental management system ISO 14001 in cooperation of Quality department.

 

EHS

 

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local EHS regulations.
  • Evaluate Environmental Health & Safety programs for compliance and effectiveness, lead in processes and improvement actions.
  • Change agent for EHS improvement efforts for site, including increased safety awareness and occupational/process hazard elimination and/or mitigation.
  • Ensure all Umicore and regulatory EHS reporting requirements, including monthly and annual KPIs, are completed and accurate.
  • Make certain all EHS inspections and audits are completed to ensure satisfactory conditions of the site.
  • Ensure all required EHS training is conducted as required and is effective.
  • Ensure proper waste disposal, including hazardous and non-hazardous waste water.
  • Interpret new/updated Umicore standards and apply to site documentation.
  • Network with business line and corporate EH&S colleagues to share best practices and learnings
  • Ensure Management of Change (MOC) are properly implemented and do not compromise EHS standards/regulations

 

Compliance

 

  • Assist all import and export operations for UIRG, UCS, Olen for coordinated shipments/drop shipments for Quapaw.
  • Ensure compliance with all governmental regulations
  • Collaborate with global affiliates to ensure compliance with US and local regulations affecting international logistics.
  • Oversee the functions of Import/Export staff while providing ongoing training and development.
  • Directly manage the relationships and ensure the cost-effective performance of all international logistical services (brokers/forwarders/carriers/agencies and providers).
  • Manage ongoing programs supporting cost saving opportunities for import and export activities.
  • Develop and maintain process procedures to identify international orders for export and prepare appropriate documentation while ensuring accuracy and the timely delivery/release.
  • Develop and maintain procedures to review documents and invoices from service providers for compliance and accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain effective Best Practice KPI indicators that will capture all aspects of international and import/export operations.
  • Develop communication to Corporate Management on industry conditions with a focus on potential threats and impacts to international trade
  • Maintain and perform regulatory compliance audits in conjunction with the Regional Trade Compliance Manager.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of documented controls (policies, procedures, processes, and work instructions).
  • Responsible for site compliance to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and ensures appropriate export licenses and Agreements are in place as required. Includes maintaining Trade Compliance Team effectiveness, ensures site compliance to UOM ITAR Manual and Technology Control Program.
  • Ensure that they maintain yearly update external training for themselves and provide training to the site as it relates to their responsibilities

 

 

Who we are looking for

 

Personal Skills

 

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with strong process safety and/or occupational safety background
  • Maintain visibility on the floor to promote safety among workers and to monitor the status EH&S initiatives.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with all levels in the organization (domestic, abroad, and suppliers).
  • Team player and be able to work independently.
  • Good observation and auding skills, must be able to identify problems, analyze, and recommend solutions.

 

Education and/or Experience  

 

 

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or QEHS System Management or a related field with a strong focus on Process Safety or/and EHS management.

Minimum 7 years professional experience in a quality or EHS management system (e.g. ISO14001, 45001).

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Process Safety Management along with Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing experience.

Technical knowledge and experience in EHS disciplines and regulations.
