What you will be doing

Umicore is deploying a Modern Data Platform with the objective of enabling its Business Units utilize their data and create data solutions that will help maximize business insights and realize value through different kinds of digital initiatives from Analytics to Data Science and AI.

As Data Analytics Global Delivery Lead you will use expert-level skills to lead the central data analytics team and ensure successful development and roll-out of data analytics products and services for all our Business Units and Shared Operating Functions. You will manage stakeholder relationships and maintain an effective dialogue.

Job responsibilities :

• Providing leadership and guidance to project and support teams by setting goals and providing feedback on progress.
• Building strong relationships with teams and stakeholders to enable effective dialogue exchange between departments.
• Define and execute the analytics roadmaps in collaboration with our Business Units and Shared Operating Functions.
• Active talent management and supervising delivery team members.
• Ensuring  that data solution delivery and support processes are on track for consistent delivery of high-quality, in an effective and cost-efficient manner.
• Recommending and implementing process improvements to deliver a better experience.
• Maintaining a high level of competence and operational excellence within the team.
• Scouting new service providers and negotiating contracts for software development and allied services.
• Overseeing projects, capturing business leaders requirements, setting delivery priorities, and making schedule adjustments to meet delivery goals.

You will be a team member of the Data Solutions Center of Excellence, in Corporate IS. You will report hierarchically to the Head of Business Applications. 

Location will be Brussels. Travels to the other Umicore sites might be required on occasional basis.

Who we are looking for

To excel as a Data Analytics Global Delivery Lead, we are looking for someone showing a combination of general, technical, analytical, communication, and management skills:

General skills:

• 5+ years of relevant work experience in the domain of Business Intelligence, ETL and Datawarehouse, data science, advanced analytics.
• You are fluent in English. Knowledge of German, Dutch or French is a plus.
• Interest in and exposure to industrial activities, processes and technology.

Technical Skills:

• Data Management: Proficiency in handling large datasets and understanding database structures.
• Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): Knowledge of various SDLC models, practices, and methodologies.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI) and techniques
• Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes and tools (Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, DBT)
• Notions of programming languages such as Python and SQL

Analytical Skills:

• Data Analysis: Ability to analyze and interpret complex data to drive business decisions.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address data-related challenges.

Communication Skills:

• Stakeholder Management: Effective communication with stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver data solutions accordingly.
• Team Leadership: Leading and motivating a team of data professionals to achieve project goals.

Management Skills:

• Strategic Planning: Developing and implementing strategies for data collection, analysis, and delivery.
• Time Management: Prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively to meet deadlines.
• Project Management Frameworks: Familiarity with agile, scrum, kanban, and related frameworks.

Additionally, a successful Data Delivery Head should have an insatiable curiosity and a drive to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies as the field of data is constantly evolving. They should also possess a strong sense of the value of data at a strategic level and be able to guide the evolution of data from information to intelligence.
