About Jewellery & Industrial Metals

These materials enable our customers to make fine jewellery, coins, high-purity glass and industrial catalysts. Umicore also enables the sustainable and responsible sourcing of these metals and provides closed-loop recycling for our customers. To make the most of these materials we cannot stand still. What you will be doing
- Operating chemical refinery processes e.g. stone recovery, gold refining etc.
- Report any problems or concerns to Refining Refining ChemistManager
- Perform assay analysis as per established procedures in a safe and correct mannersampling of different solutions from both waste treatment and Au refining units
- Use equipment such as balances, pumps, pH meters, filter presses, hot plates, glass lab ware, X-ray based equipment, etc.
- Work safely with aggressive, corrosive chemicals, acids and bases using equipment provided
- Very detail and precision oriented
- Read and interpret PIDs to determine work procedures
- Maintain housekeeping as per standard
- Wear all required personal protective equipment and follow all health and safety and environmental rules.
- Other duties as assigned
Who we are looking for
- Position holder is expected to have a background in Inorganic Chemistry and knowledge of health and safety requirements pertaining to function
- Diploma from an accredited college or equivalent is required
- Prior experience in a plant or industrial setting is considered a strong asset
- Attention to detail and ability to lift up to 25 lbs on a frequent basis is required
